A baby who lived for just over an hour has become Britain's youngest ever organ donor.

Baby Hope's parents were aware that she would die soon after being born but they refused to abort her.

Emma and Drew Lee were devastated when a scan showed that Hope had an incurable condition called Anencephaly, which means she was missing a large part of her brain, skull or scalp.

The couple were inspired by the story of little Teddy Houlston who donated his organs last year after only living for 100 minutes.

"When we found out Hope wouldn’t survive, knowing Teddy’s story made me confident doctors could do the same thing.

"Today she is still living on inside someone else and it helps with the grief, it’s taken some of the pain away," Emma told The Daily Mirror.

She was not expected to survive more than a few hours but thankfully her twin brother Josh was born healthy.
Hope's father Drew said that watching Hope being born was great but heartbreaking at the same time because he knew she only had minutes to live.

"She only lived for 74 minutes but she has achieved more than some people do in a lifetime. We feel our little girl is a hero."

An extra 100,000 people signed up to the organ donor register after Teddy's story went public.
